$1.1M fine for ganja dealer
Richard Grey, 58, almost went into shock today when a Resident Magistrate in Mandeville ordered him to pay $1.1 million on ganja charges, or be imprisoned for six months.
Grey, along with two other men were arrested along the Kingsland to Spur Tree Main Road in Manchester on March 6.
They were arrested after the Toyota motorcar in which they were travelling was stopped and searched by the police.
The car, which was being driven by Grey, a 58-year-old resident of Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth, was carrying bags of ganja weighing 200 pounds.
The three were then charged with possession of, dealing in and making preparations to export ganja.
Grey was today found guilty of the charges but the other two men were set free.
