Grief counsellors will be heading to the Morant Bay Primary School in St Thomas this morning to offer therapy to the peers of a nine-year-old student who was killed yesterday.

The student, identified as Courtney Walker of Bamboo River district, was sexually molested and killed in his community.

The police say he was heading to a shop when he was attacked.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) Liaison Officer for St. Thomas, Dwayne Smart, said the police are also trying to get counselling for the boy’s family.

A suspect, who was yesterday arrested in connection with the murder remains in police custody.

Following his arrest, the Thomas Police spent several hours trying to quell angry residents who were demanding that he be turned over to them.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending further investigations.

The Children’s Advocate Mary Clarke has described the incident as very tragic.

She is again appealing to adults to take greater care of children.

Mrs Clarke is hoping that the closure will be brought to the matter to help to heal the family.
