Three hospitals in the western part of the island received ultra sound machines making it easier to speed up diagnosis and offer better health care in the event of a car accident.

In a release from the Cornwall Regional hospital’s public relations unit, it said that Accident & Emergency Staff at the three hospitals is currently being trained in the use of the machines. One each has been allocated to the Sav-La-Mar hospital, Noel Holmes and Falmouth Hospital.

“Doctors being trained will be able to recognize free fluid in the blood and abdomen as in the case of a severe motor vehicle accident. This will ensure quicker diagnosis and speedier movement of patients to a more appropriate facility for treatment,” the release said.

The release also noted that training was also being given to diagnose other common conditions and will result in a more efficient management of patient care in terms of cost and time.
