The health ministry has announced that more pharmacy technicians are to be recruited in the public system to ease the delays in dispensing medication.

The chief medical officer Dr Sheila Campbell Forrester says the pharmacy technicians will be recruited in another six months upon graduation from university.

Prime Minister, Mr Golding says the Health minister is seeking to improve pharmacy services by establishing a network of dispensaries outside of public hospitals.

The strategy would provide more drug outlets while reducing the load on hospital pharmacies.

Since the abolition of user fees a year ago, the demand for pharmacy services has increased putting further pressure on the fragile system.
