Another company has announced plans to cut jobs in light of the impact of the global economic downturn.
The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) said it will be cutting a number of jobs among its stevedore workforce effective March 31.
The announcement was made yesterday at a meeting of the Joint Industrial Council for Port Bustamante.
SAJ president, Roger Hinds told unions representing the workers that the association was forced to respond to declining revenues resulting from the global economic crisis.
The association has promised to provide further information on the scale of the redundancies by March 31.
