Gunmen shoot policeman and SDA church leader
Police Corporal Peter Salkey and another man are hospitalised after gunmen attacked them on a church compound in Westmoreland last night.
Corporal Salkey is the Constabulary Communication Network’s (CNN), Liaison Officer for St. James.
The other man is the leader of the Bethel Town Seventh Day Adventist Church where the shooting took place.
It is reported that the shooting occurred around 9.30 pm, after corporal Salkey and the church leader locked the doors to the building and were about to leave.
The police said Corporal Salkey was shot in the chest and the stomach, while the extent of the injuries to the church leader were not available.
The police have launched a manhunt in Argyle Mountain, Westmoreland for the gunmen. They are looking for a man called ‘Bugs Crime’ of the Fresh Roses Gang, who they believe can help them.
Bugs Crime is said to be from Norwood in St. James.
