Road accidents claim 47 lives in JA

The Police Traffic Division is reporting that 47 persons have died in 41 motor vehicle accidents across the country since the start of the year.



Chief Analyst in the Traffic Division, Corporal Beverley Hill Wright said this compares with 42 crashes and 46 deaths for the corresponding period last year.



She revealed that 14 pedestrians and six children were among those killed on the country’s roads, since the start of this year.



The last reported motor vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday around 6.30 pm, on the Bull Bay Main Road.



According to police reports, 27 year old Austin Murray, a garbage collector, was killed after he was run over by a vehicle, which overtook the parked garbage truck on which he was working.



He was reportedly taken to the hospital where he died.
