When was the last time you cried?
I cried a lone tear today
Because it's been a year since you walked away.
You left me with a shattered heart
And that's when my life began falling apart.
I cried a lone tear today
But it did nothing to wash away
The hurt I felt when I found out
I was no longer the girl you dream about.
I cried a lone tear today
And with this tear I firmly say,
"This will be the last tear for you!"
Besides, I wouldn't have cried if I only knew
That today I'd have someone so dear,
Who genuinely loves me, who genuinely cares.
Someone who appreciates the little things I do,
In short, someone who's nothing like you.
Besides, when was the last time you cried?

Foolish people
Lazy, incompetent, impotent and foolish people
Who cover their misdeeds behind words from the Bible,
Sabotaging, conspiring and hating each other,
Would kill and steal even their own mother.
Walking at a fast pace each week
Pretending to be busy even when asleep
Using the performance appraisal as a tool,
Hoping to keep back those they know to be no fool.
Unhappy, irreverent, insincere, greedy ones
Who would rather throw bricks and blows and stones,
Set fires, tear papers and destroy the photocopying machine,
Wreck cars, disfigure furniture and upon nothing good are keen,
Lying on and murdering their fellow workers
Wanting to see him for the last time go through the gate.

A fool's problem
"I wrote you a poem today,
it's in the papers," he would say, like a lion luring its prey to the kill.
To her dismay, he blogs to the entire universe of his never-ending love for her
But not even the immediacy of new media gives him a presence in her world
He prostrates before the judgement throne of her heart
His wish?
To be found guilty of unconditional love and condemned to the prison of her soul
In between clicks and backspaces, he carries out his own thought experiment - that she waits in anticipation to forge a truce.
He craves her attention and waits for the sound of yes, even maybe.
Images he now sees of her are his only memory of her beautiful grey eyes and a warm and peaceful smile.
How deceptive!
She is, after all, melancholic, inflamed and grieved at the thought that her forbidden love still pines for her.
Dreadful!

Corporate friendships
Genuine interaction
Buoyancy in expression
No set mission
Just embracing connection
Relaxation
As true friends do
Are those friendships still being formed?
The answer may not even cause you to be alarmed
In a post-modern world where it's a rat race for bread
Self-seeking and self-interest become wed
And raise their collective head
To strike selflessness dead
And so like an organisation
Which undergoes mergers and acquisitions
So are many friendships formed
It's all about what is in it for me
Nothing comes for free
Can this person help me to get ahead in my job?
Can this person help me with and through school?
Then if they can, that's an opportunity to grab
If there's a faster way to get ahead, why play by the rules?
And suddenly society has become soulless
We have become soulless
As we have sought to sacrifice pure relations
For business transactions
Which causes us to build a wall
Against each and all
Who reach out in a friendly manner
As we begin to wonder
What is it they want?
