 Dance turns deadly

Orville Alexander, a 35-year-old farmer of Thornton district, St Elizabeth, was on Saturday night stabbed to death at a dance in his community. Two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports received from the Nain Police are that about 11 p.m., Alexander was a patron at a dance in the district when he became involved in an altercation with men from a neighbouring community. During the melee, he was stabbed. Citizens assisted him to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he died.

Detectives from the Junction police are investigating.

Cops probe teacher's death

Detectives from the Mandeville police in Manchester have commenced a probe into the death of Trevor Sheckleford, a 54-year-old teacher whose body was found at his home at Grove Lane, Mandeville, in the parish on Saturday.

Reports are that about 9:10 a.m., neighbours discovered Sheckleford's Toyota Mark II motor car partially burnt at the front of the premises and alerted the police. Lawmen who responded searched the house and found his body in the living room. It had multiple stab wounds. The house was also ransacked. The crime scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

Investigations continue.
