New Scotia Canada exec joins Jamaican board

Robert Pitfield ... has a new role in Toronto as head of risk management.

Robert Pitfield has shed his board positions in Trinidad, but he remains chairman of the Scotia Group Jamaica, the local banking group confirmed Tuesday.

Pitfield has a new posting inside the parent group in Canada, since October 1, as Group Head and Chief Risk Officer of parent company, The Bank of Nova Scotia, "and is responsible for enterprise-wide risk management," Scotiabank said via email sent by spokeswoman Joylene Griffiths-Irving.

The shift in responsibility is connected to Pitfield's board resignations in Port of Spain, where Brian Porter has replaced him as chairman of Scotiabank Trinidad and its merchant banking subsidiary on November 25.

Porter also took over Pitfield's old portfolio in Canada as group head of international banking, and he is slated to join the Jamaican board, "subject to Bank of Jamaica approval", a market filing said.

He was appointed director in Jamaica on November 25.

But asked whether Porter would eventually replace Pitfield as chair of the Jamaican country operations, Grifiths-Irving said she could not say.
