Last week Thursday, the American Women's Group (AWG) held its Christmas luncheon at the St Andrew home of businesswoman Lorna Myers. The highlight of the event was a sing-along of popular Christmas carols led by the melodious voice of Charmaine Lemonious. It was also reported that so far this year, $755,000 worth of scholarships have been disbursed to needy students.

J.Wray and Nephew's Judith Douglas pledged her company's support of the scholarship fund with a donation from every liquor order that is made by members this year.

Tickets for next year's first major fund-raiser, a springtime dinner-dance will go on sale soon at $6,000 each ball. Leslie Wan revealed that the groceries collected in this year's 'tin drive' will benefit the elderly at St Francis home.
