Poem of the Week
Learning to love
I was human
A perfect masterpiece
But this world has turned me into a man
Fearless and strong, worthless if I'm weak
The tears never run
They just never come in hand with being society's ideal man
But once I learn how to love
These arms that did so many wrongs
Will praise you until you become my biggest fan
There's so much hidden
So much of the unknown inside
I would love to take my first step
But I'm drowning in pride
I'm so ignorant to this love thing
I've tried so many times
But reminiscing on my childhood
I realise love was never alive
Love had died
When home became their battlefield
I thought their violent actions meant love indeed
No shield, no safety, tomorrow wasn't even guaranteed
So the wounds are still present, waiting to heal.

Echo
Echo, echo
echo something in me again
Echo
echo my lips against your lips
with a kiss
of love
echo my hand
in your hand
with a brush of tomorrow
Echo, echo
echo something new in me again
Echo
echo my dreams
echo
my echo
in you.

Tattoo
Failure to see
What one's life perceives
Of me and you
Entangled in love
Set by the design of a tattoo
Of me and you
Confused enough to say I do
Beckons to the world
Thoughts of me and you
Engraved in a tattoo
Am I stupid, am I a fool
To carry this image of me and you?
Set by a tattoo
What if you left me today
And tomorrow someone else took your place
Would I wear this tattoo which embodied a pattern of me and you?

I believe
The 'I believe' initiative
An idea conceived
A vision received
By the governor general
Is a clarion call
For all Jamaicans
To believe in Jamaica and Jamaicans
It's for us
To believe that Jamaica
Is destined to be better
And greater
That she was created for prosperity
And not austerity
That Jamaica has the ability
And propensity
To rise above adversity
Immorality and negativity
And bask in positivity
I believe, I believe
Do you believe?

My God is bigger
My God is bigger than the mountains
Bigger than the sea
My God is bigger than the wonders of this world you see
My God is bigger than the mountains
Bigger than the crime
Bigger than the highest mountain you could ever climb
My God is bigger than the UN and the universe
Who he blesses is blessed and who he curses is cursed
It would take a lifetime to know him
There is nothing you could possibly show him
Everything that you have you owe him
And my God is bigger than the mountains and the galaxy
He raised the dead and walked upon the sea
My God is higher than the light bill and the water rate
Everything you see, he created
My God is sweeter than cotton candy or ice cream
Bigger than anything you could dream
He can take you higher than marijuana
can make you into anything he wants
He can take you higher than crack
Think of the universe, he's even bigger than that
I don't worry about small minds and things
Because I'm from a generation of queens and kings
There's no need to be worrying
The door is just open, hurry in
My God is bigger than the mountains
Bigger than the sea
Bigger than the wonders of this world you see
Bigger than the mountains
Bigger than the crime
Bigger than the highest mountain you could ever climb
