There are mixed feelings circulating through society as Jamaicans come to terms with Buju Banton's 10-year sentence in Tampa, Florida, yesterday.

"Him nah do no 10 year. Him a do five year an come out," declared Esmine Robinson, a vendor at the Holy Family Primary.

Robinson also believes Buju is going to be stronger and his career is just about to start.

"Him a come out stronger innuh, an him career nah stop yah so. Him a go hot dem head wid lyrics," she said.

Damian Laws also felt the singer did not deserve a 10-year sentence and that it was a hurdle he would have to surmount in order to become a stronger person and rebuild his career.

"A jus one a dem tings deh but Buju a di boss and dis nah go keep him down," Laws said.

However, there are some who believe justice was served and if Buju is guilty, he needs to be punished.

"I really don't have much to say, but I guess justice was served and he is not above the law," said one individual who refused to give her name.
