Peart to lead JSDA

Gary Peart, chief executive officer of Mayberry Investment Limited, was elected the new president of the Jamaica Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) on July 28.

Peart succeeded Anya Schnoor of Scotia Investments Jamaica.

He leads an executive that includes: first vice-president Julian Mair, chief investment strategist, Jamaica Money Market Brokers; second VP Mark Croskery, CEO of Stocks and Securities Limited; treasurer Steven Gooden, vice-president of investments and trading at NCB Capital Markets; and secretary Lissant Mitchell, chief operating officer at Scotia Investments.

The JSDA has 22 members. The association was formed nine years ago, in September 2002, to lobby for the interests of securities dealers.

CCFG VP resigns

Capital & Credit Financial Group Limited said in a market filing Wednesday that Suzette Hemmings Davidson, vice-president and chief risk and compliance officer, resigned from the company on July 28.

Peta-Gaye Fairclough, the legal and compliance manager, has since been assigned responsibility to oversee all compliance-related issues.

New SVL directors

Nikos Nikolakopoulos, the managing director for the Latin America region of Intralot, has joined the board of supreme Ventures Limited, the gaming company said.

The gaming company has also added Nicholas Mouttet to its board effective July 19, a separate market filing disclosed on Wednesday.

Intralot, a Greek company and provider of state-of-the-art integrated gaming solutions, owns 49.9 per cent of SVL through subsidiary Intralot Caribbean Ventures Limited.

A vacancy was created with the resignation of director Stephen Castagne in March. Castagne holds the fifth-largest block of shares, 137.1 million units, in the gaming company. SVL shareholders have since approved the number of board positions from 10 to 12.

Nikolakopoulos who studied IT at the Athens Economic & Business University and received an MBA from the University of La Verne in the United States, joins another Intalot representative on the SVL board, Georgios Sampson, who is the director of finance and business development at Intralot Latin America Inc.

Gray takes over as Steele departs

The board of Carreras Limited says Patrice Gray has been appointed as a director and company secretary, to cover a vacancy created by the imminent departure of Marcus Steele.

Steele is being seconded to Carisma Marketing Services Limited in Trinidad, another company within the British American Tobacco group, the majority owner of Carreras.

It is usual for BAT executives to rotate within the group.

Steele will become country manager "with responsibility for the general management of the company`s businesses across 24 markets in the English, French and Dutch Caribbean," Carreras said in a market filing.

Gray also replaces Steele as head of finance. The appointments take effect August 1, the same time that Steele takes up his new posting in Trinidad.

Other recent changes at Carreras also include Michelle Strong as acting marketing manager as at July 1, and Richard Lewis' replacement of chairman Christopher Burton, who retired June 30.

Neita, McFayden gone

Radio Jamaica Limited said in a market filing that Ian Neita has resigned from board of directors at the last meeting held July 27.

RJR is a communications company in the business of radio, television and cable content.

Over at Cable and Wireless Jamaica Limited, trading as LIME Jamaica, Ken McFadyen also quit that company's board on July 26.

Facey leaves audit committee

Stephen Facey has resigned from the Audit Committee of Hardware and Lumber Limited, effective July 14.

He has been replaced by Andrea Coy, a GraceKennedy executive whose current job is general manager of World Brand Services, a division of GK Foods.

Facey is the CEO of Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust, the second-largest shareholder in H&L with a 21 per cent stake.
