Shine on me with rays that sting

and make my hair helpless

Shine on me with your glare

Against my head soaked and bald

Shine on me with the heat that chastens

Stabbing my back

Clamping my joints.

Beautiful

As the moon light

so crystal clear it shakes the atmosphere

shimmering its reflection as the rivers flow by

it's not right to see such rare light

Gleaming at time's eye asking it to stop to wait for a while

you, the only essence of good in me

As impossible as it sounds

The words I speak now

Unforgettable echoes

The sense of feeling

That I've given breath

Wanting you to see

What truth lies

Way back

Before you ever knew

The definition of being with me.

Talented

A lofty dream it may seem

To own houses, cars, kings and queens

Spending currencies that were out of reach

Speaking now, with eloquent speech

Wearing the finest robes in town

Never a frown to be found

Your face is rich with gladness

The world is your mistress.

- Sylvester O'Gilvie

Remember when

When I was a teenager

All that mattered was tv

When I was a toddler

All that mattered was anything free

When I was a baby

All that mattered to me was milk

Now that I'm a lady

All that matters to me is silk!

When I was a teenager

All I wanted was a phone

When I was a toddler

All I wanted was to be left alone

When I was a baby

All I wanted was attention

Now that I'm a lady

All I want is to be less mentioned

When I was a teenager

All I wanted was Chris Brown (his CD)

When I was a toddler

All I wanted was a hound (the one that squeaked)

When I was a baby

All I wanted was my mother

Now that I'm a lady

All I want is Taylor Lautner!

Every now and then I reminisce on back when

All I ever needed was my father, God and friends

Even in my old age, you may visit now and then

And listen to my stories that begin with

'I remember when'.

- Shanese Whyte ( Bridgeport High School)

Lies

Why do we tell lies?

So many malicious, seemingly harmless lies

To cover up something we've done

Because it was wrong

But then why do something wrong?

To look as if it was done right

By then why not just do it right?

It stops the guilt and sorry plight

It will stop the lying and wrongdoing

Then you will be free of guilt and do all that's right.

My vision will be my reality

My vision will be reality

When first I put forth the Almighty and zest

Claiming that I will do my best

I denounce the idea of just dreaming

I detest the thoughts and distractions that

Create non-believing

Because deep down inside I hear a voice

Constantly saying, "You must rise"

I have so much to impart

A wealth of knowledge coming straight from the heart

How could I be so selfish to keep it to myself?

When it's more than worth it to share it with someone else

It is a sincere feeling of true dignity that is always chanting

My vision will be my reality

My vision will be my reality

This is certainly affirmed

Working assiduously towards any goal is one of the

Philosophies that I have learned

With a clear objective and a clean meditation

I can and will achieve ultimate self-realisation

Eliminating thoughts of unhappiness, mistakes and doubt

Putting forward a positive and conquerable approach

Reiterating "I am a winner" whether in rain, storm or drought

Because I know what I am about

This can only equip me to face divine destiny

When my vision becomes reality

My vision will be reality

This is not just a quote

My vision is my faith, my works, my hope

Making it visual, beneficial and practical

Perpetuating spiritual, economic and social growth

I do concede that any good thing that the mind

Conceives and believes, can be achieved

If to the last line of this gem you are able to read

Know that whatever you positively do, you can succeed

Making your vision a reality indeed.
