MOST AWKWARD POLITICAL KISS EVER Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller plants a huge kiss on the cheeks of her predecessor, Andrew Holness, as they greet each other at her swearing in last Thursday at King's House. It is likely this could take the prize for the world's most embarrassingly awkward show of political unity. - JIS Photo
Engineer Noel DaCosta (front, left) is praised for the job done by the National Building Code Committee at the same JIE dinner on November 19. JIE past president Lenworth Kelly (right, front) presents the award to DaCosta.
This happened back in November but it is worth noting: Basil Nelson (left), who has worked in his field for 48 years, copped the JIE 2011 Award of Excellence in Engineering. He is presented with the award here by President of the Jamaica Institution of Engineers Omar Sweeney at the JIE annual awards dinner on November 19, 2011, at the Jamaica Pegasus.
President and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges Dr Walter Bumphus (centre) is presented with what appears to be an artistic drawing by Ayan Bennett during Wednesday's opening of the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica's conference at Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Montego Bay, which ran January 4-6. Dr Ilene Bumphus looks on at left.

Correction & Clarification

The wrong caption appeared with this photo last week. Here's what it should have said: Caught up in the euphoria of victory, Dr Morais Guy tries to plant a sloppy one on a very, very reluctant Lisa Hanna. It seems victory celebrations may have its limits.
