Collection MoDA: A MidSummer Night's Dream
Fidgy Flecther, Stylist
Some say today's fashion world is pure fantasy without the reality. That was the feeling that was given at the Collection MoDA at the sunken gardens in Hope Gardens on Wednesday night. Patrons were immersed in a whole new world as the gardens were transformed into a fashion fantasy playground for the fabulous chosen few. No detail was left uncovered; every inch of the sunken gardens was used for the exclusive bash. The main area for socialising was like a teaser for what was to come. Full of mystery, the enclave of creative souls and fashion who's who gathered by the Heineken bar where they sipped Ciroc cocktails in anticipation of the night.
It was after 8 p.m. and show time was announced. The fashionistas made their way to the main runway area and were immediately immersed in a European fashion party as the dim lights slowly increased in intensity, illuminating the entire venue. Milan or Rome perhaps! It had such a modern aesthetic with an Old World element, with the ancient concrete columns and cascading steps, but furnished with chic white leather couches and translucent chairs. Kudos, Tai Flora!
Spotted in the audience were some super chic and trendy outfits. Celebrating the end of summer, Christian Louboutin pumps, Monolo strappy sandals, retro turbans, lime green colour blocked blazers paired with printed black and white punk pants, Herve Leger bandage dresses, tuxedo jackets, Calvin Klein colour blocked cropped blazers and Jeffery Campbell laced boots. The gents were not to be outdone! The suits that made their appearances in the crowd were show-stopping. Present were the most interesting and oddly paired pocket squares. Way to go, men, for stepping outside the box. It was great to see the men wearing locally made suits from Spokes Apparel.
Lights! Camera! Action! The show flowed beautifully and it was a night to remember. As Wayne Dryer said "Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you."
The best way to describe the ending of Collection MoDA!
