Work teams from the National Works Agency, NWA are now trying to re-open several roads, which were blocked by debris during the heavy rains over the weekend.

Heavy rains associated with tropical storm Fay caused damage to several roads in St. Elizabeth, Clarendon, St. Thomas and St. Andrew.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says the agency is working to have the affected roads reopened to vehicular traffic.

He says the Mount Vernon to Trinity Ville main road in St. Thomas is also blocked between mileposts 32 and 33.

In Clarendon, Mr. Shaw says work is continuing on an access road, which was put in to facilitate the construction of a bridge in Milk River.

Also in Clarendon, the road from Palmers Cross to Rose Well remains impassable to small vehicles.

Mr. Shaw says the Newcastle main road in St. Andrew is now open to single lane access.

While the roadway from Barton to Old Harbour in the Big Pond area is now flooded.
