The unions representing correctional officers are to meet with representatives from the finance ministry and the department of corrections today to continue discussions over outstanding payments to the workers.

The parties will be seeking to resolve the issue surrounding outstanding uniform allowance for the years 2006 to 2008.

Last month the disputing parties reached an agreement after the labour ministry intervened and ordered that a verification process be conducted to determine the amounts owed to the officers.

Chairman of the Jamaica Federation of Corrections, Lenworth Elliot, says the verification process has been completed and that the unions are hoping for an early resolution.

Mr Elliott says the workers are expecting to be paid before the end of the month.
