A bank teller has been sentenced to three years imprisonment at hard labour for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
He is 26 years old Douglas Gazader of Heathfield District in St. Catherine.
Gazader was also fined 300 thousand dollars or 12 months imprisonment for discharging a firearm in a public place.
Justice Bryan Sykes in handing down the sentence said if the fine was not paid Gazader would have to serve four years in prison.
The crown led evidence at the trial in the St. Ann Circuit Court that on October 1, 2007 Gazader and friends were at a beach at Priory in the parish when he fired shots from a 9 mm pistol.
He was found guilty of the charges and sentencing put off for today.
