Portland victim’s funeral
The funeral for one of the 14 persons who died in the tragic accident involving a market truck in the Rio Grande Valley, Portland last month, is to be held in another hour.
The service for Leebert Rogers is being held at the Moore Town Anglican Church in the parish.
The government is spending 145,000 to cover the cost of the funeral for each of the victims.
Another of the persons killed in the accident is to be buried on Saturday in Comfort Castle.
Five of those killed are to buried on January 18, and the funeral for the remaining seven will be held on January 25 at the Mill Bank Community Centre.
The driver of the market truck is to return to court on February 24 after his bail was reduced yesterday.
Christopher Clarke, 31, had his $1million bail reduced to $300,000 after his attorney told the court that he was unable to take up the bond.
Clarke is also now only required to report to the Port Antonio police one day per week.
Clarke was charged last week with 14 counts of manslaughter, failing to report an accident and reckless driving.
