Police seized firearms

The police high command is reporting that four firearms and 30 rounds of ammunition were seized over the last two days by the joint task force.



One man was taken into custody and has since been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.



He’s Kirk Brown of a St. Andrew address.



The weapons and ammunition were seized during special operations carried out in the parishes of St. James, St. Andrew and St. Catherine.



The police said operations carried out at Sign Irwin and Piggot and Crawford Streets in St. James resulted in the seizure of an Ultra 9 millimetre pistol with one round and a Taurus pistol with five rounds.



A Browning pistol with thirteen rounds was also seized at Fagan Avenue in Grants Pen, St. Andrew.



Brown was charged in connection with that find.



And a Carbine pistol with eight rounds was seized at Mahoe Drive also in Kingston while three cartridges were seized at Smith Avenue in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
