The Issa Trust Foundation has donated an ambulance valued at US$35,000 (J$4,469,849.97) to the Negril Fire Station's emergency medical services department.
The Foundation also brought in a mechanic to train local personnel in the vehicle's maintenance and a specialist nurse to give training in the use of the ambulance's medical equipment.
At the handover ceremony in Negril recently, Lee Issa, president of the Negril Chamber of Commerce and chairman of Couples Resorts, made an appeal for the government to allow and encourage the importation of used ambulances, and to partner with foundations and service groups to help facilitate the eventual goal of having a working ambulance in every community in Jamaica.
