Several homeless after shooting, arson in May Pen, Clarendon
Detectives assigned to the Clarendon Police Division are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting and subsequent arson on Windsor Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon yesterday morning.
It is reported that the morning quiet was broken by loud explosions accompanied by fire as five houses in a yard were attacked by gunmen.
“Round 2 o clock mi hear gunshot a bus and mi jump outa mi sleep same time and tek up mi baby. When mi pull mi door and a peep out mi hear mi stepfather say fire, fire,” one resident told The Gleaner.
She said that she fainted twice during the ordeal.
“All one baby madda traumatise inna di lane. She nuh know wha fi duh. All mi uncle stand up one place nah move, all mi a sey 'help we'. Him just stand up, him nuh know wha fi duh,” she recounted.
The houses were destroyed but the occupants were unhurt.
The police and the fire department were alerted and cooling down operations carried out.
The police say the loss is estimated at $7 million.
