The 2019/2020 football season has been cancelled and declared null and void by Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts.

In a media conference via a Zoom on Friday morning, Ricketts said after consultation with key stakeholders, such as the Government and medical personnel, the JFF thought the correct decision was to cancel the season and declare all competitions null and void. As a result, all teams will retain their ranking as of the end of the 2018/2019 season.

"The 2019/2020 football season will be cancelled for all levels of competition, nationally, and parishes," Ricketts said. "The National Premier League, the Super Leagues and Major Leagues et cetera. The 2019/2020 season is declared null and void.

"No champion will be declared for any competition and no team will be relegated, hence no team will be promoted. All teams will retain their ranking as of September 2019 and will be eligible to participate in the 2020/2021 season.

"The 2020/2021 season is tentatively set to start in September 2020, and consideration will be given for the adjustment of the 2020/2021 registration periods, including transfer windows."
