Australia defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates yesterday, to join England on four points in the group.

Chasing 155 for victory, Australia had little trouble achieving the task as opener David Warner contributed 65 from 42 balls.

Steve Smith, 28 not out, and Marcus Stoinis sealed the win for the Aussies, with three overs remaining.

Sri Lanka set 154-6, which looked a decent score on what was proving to be a slow pitch, but were let down in the field as openers Warner and Aaron Finch, 37 from 23 balls, shared 70 to give control to Australia.

Australia and England meet in Dubai at 9 a.m. Jamaica time tomorrow.
