Charlie Smith defeated Campion College 2-0 in the second leg of their ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football clash at Stadium East on Friday to win the second-round tie 3-1 on aggregate after the first-leg ended 1-1.

Daquan Green scored in the 25th minute and Christopher Wilson added a second five minutes after the halftime interval, which ensured that Charlie Smith progressed to the next stage of the competition.

Green’s goal was the separating factor in the first half, which was a fairly even contest. He rose high inside the six-yard box, for a glancing header from a left-sided free kick, getting to the effort just before Campion’s goalkeeper Jonrae Small.

With Charlie Smith kicking towards the hills in the second half, the eventual winners had more control. Wilson would use the advantage, providing the necessary cushion when he curled his shot out of the reach of goalkeeper Small after a short corner was played to him on the left, just outside of the penalty box.
