Netherlands’ Gakpo heads to Liverpool

Netherlands midfielder Cody Gakpo seems headed from PSV Eindhoven to English shores and to Liverpool Football Club.

The announcement that an agreement between the clubs was made by PSV, with their general manager, Marcel Bands, saying the transfer fee would be a record for his organisation.

British media has reported the transfer fee as being somewhere in the region of €40 and €50 million.

While Gakpo came to prominence at this year’s World Cup in Qatar courtesy of three goals in his five games for The Netherlands, for PSV, in 159 games, the 23-year-old has scored 55 goals alongside 50 assists.
