MANCHESTER, England (CMC):

Reggae Girl Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been adjudged Manchester City Women’s Player of the Month for December.

The prolific Spanish Town-born striker beat out competition from Dutch forward Jill Roord and England international Lauren Hemp to earn her second successive Player of the Month honour.

Shaw, 26, netted three times in December – all those goals coming in a hat-trick against Everton as City thrashed them 4-1 at Merseyside in the Women’s Super League.

She was also exceptional against Aston Villa, helping her side to come from a goal down to win 2-1 at home, Hemp notching a double in that encounter.

In November, Shaw scored four goals – including another hat-trick against Tottenham as City stormed to a crushing 7-0 victory also at home.

Shaw leads the league goal-scoring charts with nine goals from as many games, extending her red-hot form from last season when she bagged 31 goals from 30 games in all competitions, to be voted City’s Player of the Season.

City lie second in the league on 22 points, just three adrift of leaders and title-holders Chelsea but level with Arsenal.

Last season, City finished fourth.
