Portland teacher accused of sexual assault of 14-y-o girl remanded

A male teacher at a high school in Portland, who is charged with sexual crimes involving a 14-year-old girl, was remanded when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old educator, whose name is being withheld because the victim is a minor, is charged with two counts of having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 and two counts of grievous sexual assault.
He is to return to court next month.
Investigators said that the educator allegedly sexually assaulted the teen girl on January 18 and that she was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to investigators, the child reportedly complained about feeling pain after returning home and was rushed to hospital.
Following a medical examination, a report was made to the police by the girl's family, who have since expressed outrage at what they have described as a betrayal of trust on the part of the educator.
The teacher was arrested and later charged.
