The first work order under the Government’s Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) is expected to be completed next month, according to Robert Morgan, minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

In a ministerial statement yesterday, Morgan said the three work orders covering 126 roads under the first tranche of of the programme are to be completed by June this year.

The Government’s SPARK programme is being rolled out as motorists complain bitterly about the deplorable state of roads across the country.

Morgan said work has started on the 42 road projects across 21 constituencies in eight parishes which have been included in the first SPARK work order.

“Work is scheduled to begin this week in the Corporate Area,” Morgan said.

The second work order will cover 42 additional roads across 21 constituencies. This is expected to begin in late February.

The final work order in the first tranche is scheduled to begin in March and will target 42 roads across 21 constituencies.

Morgan said China Harbour Engineering Company has received the project scope and has commenced preliminary site visits.
