A driver is facing criminal charges for allegedly shooting a passenger during a dispute onboard his bus last week.

Peter Campbell, 57, a licensed firearm holder, has been charged with wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony, the St Andrew South police have confirmed.

The incident occurred along Mandela Highway near the Six Mile Bridge about 11:00 p.m. on February 17.

According to the police, Campbell got into a dispute with the passenger while operating the vehicle.

It’s alleged that the dispute escalated and Campbell discharged his firearm, a nine millimetre pistol, injuring the passenger.

Campbell drove the injured passenger to the Kingston Public Hospital for treatment, according to a police report.

He was charged after an interview conducted in the presence of his attorney Peter Champagnie K.C., the police said.
