Ramiesh Williams shot his way to glory, triumphing in commanding fashion to seize the title of overall champion at the prestigious fifth annual David ‘Dawg’ McMorris Memorial Cup, staged at the Negril Tactical Shooting Range.

The Memorial Cup, Jamaica’s premier handgun shooting championship, honours the legacy of David McMorris, while uniting the nation’s finest marksmen to test their skill, speed, and precision across multiple tactical stages. Williams’s victory cements his place among the elite shooters who have etched their names into this celebrated tradition of excellence and remembrance.

He secured the coveted trophy after a strong performance across five demanding stages, which required competitors to fire 80 rounds, while demonstrating accuracy, composure, and tactical discipline.

In an interview with The Gleaner, Williams described the win as a proud milestone.

“Winning the David ‘Dawg’ McMorris Memorial Cup meant a lot to me. I felt proud, grateful, and truly honoured to come out on top,” he said. “The stages were definitely challenging and tested both skill and focus. My strategy was to stay calm, stick to my training, and trust the work my coach and I have been putting in. In the end, that discipline and preparation helped me perform well and secure the win.”

Williams credited his coach and home club for their support.

“Special big-up to my coach Ronald Brown Junior ‘Dragon’ and my home ground, Woodleigh Tactical Shooting Range and Gun Club,” he added.

The competition drew top shooters from across Jamaica, with Williams not only securing the overall crown, but also dominating the Open category. Ronaldo McKenzie rose to the occasion in the Production division, while Ralston Berbeck showcased his skill to capture victory in the Standard category.

The match was made possible through sponsorship from Sunray Solar, Money Muss Games and Bar, Food Muss Mini Mart, Chalcass Trophies and Medals, and the Crichton Brothers, whose support ensured the smooth execution of the event.
