WISDOM OF THE WEEK

Feeling renewed or is there still boredom in life?

Published:Sunday | January 7, 2024 | 12:10 AM

In the tapestry of our lives, monotony often threads its way through in our routines, leaving us yearning for something new and invigorating.

We seek change in the external world around us, whether it be buying new furniture, rearranging our living spaces, or indulging in retail therapy for the latest fashion trends. Yet despite these efforts, the source of newness lies not in the tangible, but within ourselves. The constant pursuit of external change might momentarily alleviate boredom, but it fails to bring about the sustained enthusiasm we crave. The pages of the calendar may turn, but the deeper transformation that brings lasting freshness necessitates an internal revolution.

Every day presents an opportunity for self-renewal. Life is a perpetual flux, with each moment carrying the potential for something new. However, our fixation on the past, the comfort of memories, and the desire for predictability hinder us from welcoming the uncertainty that true newness demands. Fear becomes a barrier, preventing us from inviting the unpredictable into our lives, thus rendering our existence mundane.

CHANGE IS INEVITABLE

Genuine newness originates from a new mind. It involves embracing change in ourselves, allowing each day to unfold with the promise of novelty. The tendency to anchor ourselves in the familiar makes us overlook the dynamism inherent in every passing moment. A new mind is the key to perpetual renewal, enabling us to experience the thrill of each passing second, freeing us from our old expectations. In our quest for external novelty, we often overlook the transient nature of material possessions. The pursuit of new relationships or the acquisition of shiny objects provides only fleeting satisfaction. The moment we claim them as our own, they become mundane, and our thirst for newness continues.

SAY GOODBYE TO BOREDOM

To break free from the shackles of boredom, we must cultivate an openness to the unknown, shattering the illusion of safety in our carefully constructed plans. Life’s uncertainties and unfamiliar territories should be welcomed with open arms, for it is in these uncharted waters that true newness emerges.

The genuine allure of newness is found in the everyday wonders that surround us – nature’s beauty – the rising Sun, the blooming flowers, and the endless possibilities of each moment. Instead of relying on external façades of change, we must learn to appreciate the inherent freshness in the world around us.

In the New Year, let each day unfold as a new chapter, a testament to our ability to embrace the unknown. The path to genuine newness lies not in the artificial rearrangement of our external world, but in the conscious decision to look within ourselves for the transformative power that makes each moment new.
