Final showing for Samson & Di Liar tonight
The highly acclaimed comedy play Samson and Di Liar will have its final local run tonight at the Little Little Theatre. Headlined by ace actor/comedian Tony 'Paleface' Hendriks and anchored brilliantly by Ricky Rowe (of Blue Mountain Theatre and YaardyBoy Entertainment in the UK), Samson and Di Liar is a tale of two homeless men who find a common ground through their love for music.
Samson is an uptown deportee with aspirations to be a composer of musical theatre and opera while Ears Ring (Di Liar) is a scamp of no mean order who wants to mash up and blend Samson's music with his dancehall influences to make it more 'up-to-the-time'. Eventually, the two come to a highly entertaining end result.
Samson and Di Liar, based on an original story by Winston 'Bello' Bell, is written by Hendriks and Rowe, who also share directing credit with producer/director Scarlette Beharie. The play has been enjoying a limited run at the Little Little Theatre, before heading on the road with scheduled stops for Portland, St Thomas and Clarendon.
Patrons in Kingston will get a final chance to get in on the fun tonight at 5:30 p.m.
