Air Jamaica’s first DC-9 arrives
The Hon Cleve Lewis, minister of communications and works, under whose portfolio the island’s airports fall, and the Hon G. Arthur Brown, chairman of Air Jamaica, headed a large gathering of government and airlines officials, and friends, who welcomed home 57 Jamaican girls who recently underwent an airline hostess course for Air Jamaica in Montreal.
The Jamaican girls came in on the first of three Super DC-9 jets just acquired by Air Jamaica for its Jamaica-United States run.
The exterior décor of Air Jamaica’s newly acquired aircraft was - a yellow roof with an orange strip running the length of its fuselage and a 'Doctor Bird' symbol prominent on its tail.
One of the new air hostesses said their course was strenuous but was interesting and they all passed.
