Sabrina succeeds in last shot at title

Sabrina on winning: “I feel very good about winning because this year is my last year to compete. The first time I competed, I came second. The last time I was third, and I said it in my mind and I meant it that this time I was going to win.”

Sabrina said that she went back to the drawing board upon her return to school to plot her way to the title. She noted that outside of her coach, she has received a lot of help from friends and her parents.

For nationals, she has a plan: “I know I have a lot of work to do. I need to slow down with spelling the words, concentrate more, and not be nervous.”

In her free time, Sabrina likes to read as well as talk to her parents and friends.

Daniel, who won the parish championship for St James in 2017, coached Sabrina to victory.
