Police morale at all-time low
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I've been reading various editorials and articles in The Gleaner about crime, and I find your overall commentary to be more balanced and insightful than that of the other newspaper. Keep up the good work.
Last year, while attending a wedding in Canada, I met a United States-based criminologist, Richie Lindo, who was born in Jamaica, and we had a discussion about the plight of the nation as it relates to the crime monster. I was impressed by his knowledge of the issues and his suggestions to fix some of the problems.
I think it would be great idea for your publication to take a look at some of his proposals.
I have been a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for almost 30 years and have seen many highs and lows, but I did not dream that I would see the day when morale was this low in the organisation. We need help.
