Create tradesmen registry for returnees

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Against the backdrop of crimes being committed against returning residents, I am requesting that a government-sanctioned registry be set up that contains licensed and bonded tradespersons and companies.

I highly recommend that this initiative be undertaken as soon as possible because oftentimes it is the persons with whom returning residents choose to transact business who are the perpetrators of the crimes against them.

These returning residents undertake building their dream houses and contract builders, painters and electricians, etc., who don't do a very satisfactory job, leaving the returning residents feeling cheated.

We do not need to state how much money these returning residents pump into the Jamaican economy and if they are constantly being preyed upon. Very soon, many of them will choose not to return to Jamaica. So I highly recommend that this is initiative is implemented, which should save lives.
