God have pity on you, Abrahams
THE EDITOR, Sir:
This is an open letter to columnist Michael Abrahams.
I read with anticipation your essay captioned 'The Bible is a dangerous book' (Gleaner online, July 2, 2018). Suffice it to say, it was a total dud.
You did not prove anything at all. All you have shown is that people misuse the Bible to serve their own ends, the very same thing you did. Which implies Dr Abrahams is a dangerous person.
Should we go about writing that you are a very dangerous person? How would that affect you? Perhaps those who don't know you would be scared to become your patients. Maybe some of those who are already your patients may have second thoughts. I also concede that if you have patients that have confidence in you, they would dismiss the dangerous label.
Are you trying to get people not to believe the Bible or God? Well, the same effect applies. And then, those who you influence to lose their way will have you to blame in the end with their blood on your shoulders.
The Jehovah's Witnesses are strange and foolish indeed in several areas and turn off people from God. It seems like you have joined their ranks and are no different.
I trust that you revisit your ideas and humble yourself, considering that you don't really understand the Bible and you don't know God.
May God have pity on you.
