Michael Abrahams' article out of depth

THE EDITOR, Sir:
Michael Abraham's article , captioned 'The Bible is a dangerous book' (Gleaner Online, July 2, 2018) was, first of all an example of poor writing. In a reasoning and logic course Abraham might be able to score 29 per cent.
Suffice it to say, though, that a credible discussion on the veracity of the Bible is really out of his depth. But, interestingly since most individuals, and particularly the under-35 generation are not avid readers of long articles - neither are they fond of them - they may tend to gloss over the content and take the title at face value. Which indeed makes Mr. Michael Abrahams a dangerous communicator on this matter.
His frequent appearance in the public space may be seen by some as legitimising his authenticity, which on biblical-spiritual matters he is woefully disastrous and hence especially for the non-readers mentioned earlier spiritually dangerous.
For, Mr Abrahams and many like him fail to understand that even Peter, who walked with Jesus, and even went with Him to the mountain where He was transfigured, never fully 'got it' before Jesus left the scene physically. He was subject to scolding from Paul who never knew Jesus and who, although a godly man himself, opposed Christianity so zealously that ended up with the death of many at his hand.
So the Abrahams among us would do themselves a favour by humbly trying to get to know God first and then they will understand that the Bible is simply a 'drop-in-the-bucket' (so to speak) when it comes to knowing God.
