Ye that has no sin ...

Published:Wednesday | July 4, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Minister Andrew Wheatley has become an embattled man. He must be feeling a maelstrom of emotions, but that is the price of serving at that level.

Irrespective of his intellectual strength, youthful exuberance and high energy, he dropped the ball. Take full responsibility, sir. Pay attention to administrative matters, never leave it fully to staff: they can carry you 'wide'.

The rule is: your remit is policy, however, given the history of Petrojam, a keen eye was needed.

To those calling for his head I say Yes, he misstepped badly, as some others have in the past.

The scribes and Pharisees brought a woman, caught in adultery, to Jesus. By law, she should have been stoned to death. Jesus stated, "Ye that hath no sin cast the first stone." They departed. (St John 8: 3-11)

Do not destroy Dr Wheatley: give him a chance to recover. Jamaica can acquire much from his expertise, and he is relatively young.

To you, sir, be contrite, humble and apologise to the Jamaican people. We deserve that.
