Well done, Moon Palace
THE EDITOR, Sir:
It is always a breath of fresh air when those able, including corporate Jamaica, decide to invest in the development of our country.
I was pleased to see recently that the St Ann-based resort Moon Palace Jamaica has decided to not only invest more than US$270 million, through its parent group, in a core business development project in Jamaica, but has also given more than $3 million worth of scholarships to up to 28 residents on the island and is willing to help develop Ocho Rios.
More than tourism
The company, which has its heritage in Mexico, has shown that it is not always about improving visitor arrivals, but offering social and economic opportunities to our people is equally important.
It was well-known ancient writer and philosopher Lao Tzu who once said, "The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own."
Moon Palace has done well in this regard. Big up!
