Miss Nigeria, a true friend

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh, has done a remarkable job in showcasing our country in a positive light as a tremendous tourist destination. But we need to acknowledge the act of genuine kindness displayed by Miss Nigeria, Nyekachi Douglas, 2019 Miss World finalist, with her hefty laughter showboating for us. It was really a sight to behold to see Ms Douglas in such glee and with such limitless love and adoration for Ms Singh. The camaraderie between Ms Douglas and her Jamaican counterpart makes you either want to laugh or cry, for the way she reacted to the announcement of the Miss World title being bestowed on our compatriot.

Never have I watch a pageant and see such adoration and outpouring of love from one competitor to the other: her electrifying moment was dazzling. It has really empowered me to emulate Miss Nigeria and to extend the hand of kindness, even to an unknown person. I implore us to think out of the box and really love our fellowmen with an upright and steadfast passion. There is nothing wrong in spreading love to a person whom you knew for a short period. This is a lesson to all persons on the planet who have been touched by Ms Douglas’ joyfulness.
