Chris Gayle hits another T20 milestone

THE EDITOR, Madam:
West Indies superstar Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match between his team, Kings XI Punjab, and the RajasthanRoyals, on October 31, 2020, added another record when he became the first player in cricket history, to hit an astonishing 1,000 sixes in T20 cricket.
My word! What can we say about this superstar? Can we find enough adjectives to describe him? So many records are under his belt, or he has reached so many milestones. Our Jamaica is little indeed, but she is tallawah! She has produced some powerful men and women of sports (not really powerful in stature, but in performances).
Like Viv Richards, Gayle is also a master-blaster and the greatest T20 cricketer the world has ever seen. He is indeed a great entertainer; a very dangerous power-hitter. He is one in a million in the shortened version. He is devastating and merciless to bowlers.
But one of the sad things about sports is when a shining star has reached retirement age, or has to call it a day, especially when he or she has been a great one or an unmatchable one.
We say congratulations to Gayle on another marvellous achievement.
