Treat paying customers better
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Allow me to use this medium to state my displeasure and frustration with the Jamaica Public Service (JPS). I am from a small district in St Mary where there are frequent power outages because of the lackadaisical behaviour of JPS.
In my community, there is a strain on the JPS line because of the excessive number of individuals who are constantly stealing electricity, which has caused the transformers on the JPS power lines to be frequently dislodged.
We the paying customers are suffering. Sometimes in one week, we are having power outages like three or four times, and when we call to report such information to JPS, they seldom want to come because the majority of the district is stealing electricity.
On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, we had a power outage and up to Saturday, October 2, 2021, we were still without the precious commodity called electricity. That’s over 72 hours being without something you have to be paying for, whether or not you have burned it.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
As a paying customer, I think enough is enough, and I think it’s time JPS start taking the matter seriously, because we the paying customers are being inconvenienced.
What about the persons who are on medication that has to be refrigerated, and what about the people who have stocked out their refrigerator for personal use? All their funds and food items have gone down the drain, and JPS is not going to even compensate individuals who have been inconvenienced by the power outages.
This has been an ongoing issue within our district, and we the paying customers are tired of being inconvenienced. Too often when you call JPS to get a comment on the matter, they give you the runaround until they cut you off.
Enough is enough, and I think JPS can do better than what they are doing, because whether or not we have the current, they are still sending hefty monthly bills, which, if we don’t pay, they are the same ones that will come and disconnect our electricity.
In a time like this where everything is being done online and requires electricity for use, I think JPS must deal with us the paying customers better and stop treating us unfairly.
