Driving in Kgn a nightmare
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Driving is no longer the pleasure it once was.
Today, it has become akin to traversing a dangerous obstacle course filled with cars driving too fast; cutting in front of drivers without signalling; and ‘robot’ taxis zooming past.
Then there are obedient motorists attempting to stop when a traffic light turns amber or red, but choosing not to because the car behind theirs is precariously close because the driver expects them to go through the light.
Driving in Kingston is stressful and fearful.
Until there are enough traffic police personnel on Kingston’s numerous public roads to stop and ticket reckless, law-breaking and offensive drivers, the status quo will never change.
Uncivilised and ‘bhuttu-ish’ drivers who break Jamaica’s traffic laws with impunity need to be hit hard where it hurts – in their pockets. However, with low numbers of traffic cops on our nation’s streets, crash injuries and fatalities will continue.
