Depression, a debilitating illness

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Thanks for your very informative article on depression and for clarifying how someone could be on the brink of committing suicide and others wouldn’t have a clue. I am convinced that if one is not directly impacted by the illness of a close relative or friend they will never understand the whys of what many deem the unthinkable. My brother was murdered recently and just seeing images of the gun, chamber and bullets as displayed in articles published in The Gleaner on a daily basis sends me into a depressed state.

I see the weapon displayed and envision step by step what he must have endured, not being able to shake his suffering. Depression is the worst illness on the planet Earth. If you disagree, please tell me of another so severe and debilitating.
