Best wishes to Junior Reid

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I write this letter with reference to the article, ‘Junior Reid opens entertainment centre in Kingston’, published in The Gleaner on December 28.

I congratulate Reid for building literally the first reggae entertainment centre in Kingston. King Jammy, Reid and I grew up in the same neighbourhood and on the same street. However, our neighbourhood is not Waterhouse as most people would believe.

Being little older than him, we have watched his growth and development and are elated that he has built a reggae entertainment centre in Kingston, where many lovers of reggae music can go, be entertained, and have a good time.

With that said, I have a humble request that there should be adequate security arrangement at the centre – install metal detectors, closed circuit cameras around the building, and a well-lit area around the centre for the security of the patrons.

Even if Reid has to charge the patrons a little extra to cover the security cost, he should consider doing that. In the long term this is a small investment to ensure he has done everything to provide adequate security.

Not only that, if the development of Kingston waterfront is fully materialised and completed, and the Government provides adequate security many tourists will visit this area of Kingston.

Both new and returning tourists will visit the centre if the people who work there provide good hospitality and customer services.

There is a market for many such entertainment centres, and with experience Junior Reid will learn how to make the business successful.

Junior Reid happens to be one of the many talented reggae musicians, who is very experienced and accomplished to own and run such a centre.

We wish him all the success in running his first reggae entertainment centre, and to expand his reggae entertainment business in the future.
