Why is downtown overflowing with sewage?
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I am writing with reference to the current situation in downtown Kingston. There was a tree-lighting function and a New Year’s Eve celebration, bur nobody realises the market district is flooded with sewage.
Edward Seaga must be turning in his grave, because the Government and the concerned authorities do not see this as a matter of urgency. It is about celebrations in a messy city.
If a top dignitary, like the president of the United States, decides to visit downtown tomorrow, I am sure everything would be fixed, even if it means working right through the night. But it seems that the people of Jamaica do not deserve to have clean surroundings.
Nobody cares for the vendors and persons who have to go downtown to conduct business. There is no time for any more excuses; downtown Kingston needs urgent attention.
